Watch: Affleck, Damon, and Fallon go full Boston while naming every Massachusetts city and town

Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Jimmy Fallon showed off their Boston bona fides Tuesday night on “The Tonight Show.”

The Cambridge-raised actors, who’ve been making the press rounds this week in support of their new Netflix film “The Rip,” stopped by the late-night show to chat about the movie, as well as take part in a fun bit with Fallon. The host and “Fever Pitch” star, who used to do a pretty good Boston accent opposite Lexington native Rachel Dratch on “Saturday Night Live,” proved he can still drop his r’s with the best of them, enlisting Affleck and Damon for a skit where they named all the hundreds of cities and towns in Massachusetts.

Donning their best townie attire, Affleck, Damon, and Fallon went full Boston as they rattled off different Bay State locations, starting with Abington and ending with Yarmouth. Affleck laid the accent on a bit thicker when it came time to name drop the Hub, and really channeled his inner Bostonian while naming spots like Canton, Carlisle, and Carver, and later Fall River, Falmouth, Fitchburg, and “Foxborough, for your mutha.”

And while Fallon didn’t grow up in Massachusetts, he did a solid job keeping up with Affleck and Damon on all of the pronunciations, only flubbing slightly toward the end of the skit while naming the town of Winchendon.

In addition to shouting out all the towns and cities in the Bay State, the actors sat for a wide-ranging chat with Fallon, talking about their new film “The Rip,” Affleck visiting Damon on the set of “The Odyssey,” as well as their sports fandom. Damon shared a particularly funny anecdote about seeing the Celtics face the Lakers in 2008, getting to see the action up close while sitting near fellow Boston star Mark Wahlberg.

According to Damon, he and Wahlberg were sitting right near the Lakers bench and got a bit of a talking to from Phil Jackson, the Lakers coach at the time, for being a bit too boisterous while cheering on Boston as the team went on a run.

“We were probably a little Boston, a little obnoxious,” Damon admitted. “Phil Jackson jumped, called a time out, and turned and literally said ... ‘Sit down and shut the [expletive] up!’ to me and Mark.”
