Here are the notable performances from high school boys’ basketball players this past week in Eastern Mass. conferences/leagues.
Cal Atherton, Newburyport — The senior stayed white-hot with 35 and 38 points to lead the Clippers (8-0) to wins over Ipswich (82-71) and Reading (77-69).
Sebastian Brown and Ryan Mutschler, Hanover — Brown, a senior forward, tallied a pair of double-doubles with averages of 12 points and 10 rebounds in three wins this week and Mutschler, a senior wing, led the scoring with averages of 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists per game.
Aaron Cote and Amare Rose, Wareham — The backcourt tandem combined for 60 points and seven assists in Saturday’s 77-61 win over Charlestown before Cote dropped 28 points in the first half alone and Rose provided 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists in Tuesday’s 91-69 win over Cardinal Spellman.
Elian Rodriguez, Salem — By averaging 21.3 points, 5 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 3.7 steals, the junior guard carried the Witches (6-0) to three Northeastern wins over Winthrop (50-30), Beverly (67-59), and Danvers (76-48).
Aiden Torres, Lawrence — The Lancers are on a five-game win streak after getting past MVC rivals Dracut, Billerica, and Lowell this week. Torres, a senior guard, averaged 20 points in the first two wins before erupting for a career-high 42 points along with six rebounds and four assists in Tuesday’s 79-66 win over Lowell.
Cristian Vasquez, Everett — The senior forward produced 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists with the winning basket at the buzzer to beat Lynn English on Jan. 6, then combined for 36 points and 12 rebounds in wins over Somerville (59-50) and Revere (75-38).
